Three out of three, dominance in every game, a defense that scared Europe and two important points for the main round...
The Montenegrin handball players played the first round in the right way, and with their victory in the Czech Republic (28:21), they announced great things in the continuation of the EHF Euro...
"Throughout all three games, it was clear that the defense was the one that broke the match, regardless of missed shots and certain technical errors in the attack. Defensiveness brings the biggest result," said Suzana Lazović, the head coach of Montenegro.
The anthological score after the first half (12:4) shows what kind of defense her chosen ones played.
"It was a top half, we left the Czech Republic, which has top players, to four goals and completely shut down their right side," added Lazović.
In the continuation, the "lionesses" without much effort properly preserved a big advantage.
"If we were to look for faults, it would be the goals conceded in the continuation and going back to the defense, but not to look back on it and spoil the impression - I am happy, satisfied and proud because the girls respected everything that was required and they respected each other. "Because of such things, we entered the next phase," emphasized the Montenegrin coach.
Montenegro, Hungary and France open the main round with two points each, and the rivals of the "lions" will be Poland and Sweden, who have no points. Only the best two travel to Vienna for the semi-finals.
"The system is quite complicated, even with two wins in the next phase it will not be certain whether we will pass, but we do not want to calculate, as we did not do for this game either. We will go to meet what we are asking for in each one," she concluded. Suzana Lazović.
Our national team will play its first match on Thursday against Hungary.
