The Montenegrin women's handball team remained in the race for third place in the group and a trip to Vienna - the "lionesses" defeated Poland today (30:28) and registered their first victory in the main stage.
Our selection will play the next match on Tuesday (20:30) against Sweden.
"It is difficult for any team to get back up after two defeats. The girls showed today that they can get back up even when they lose, because we scored in the first and the beginning of the second half. The girls succeeded, they pulled out the last atom of strength, regardless of fatigue. We made mistakes, we didn't respect what we agreed on at the meeting, but that's less important now. It will be important when we agree with Sweden," coach Suzana Lazović said after the match RTCG.
Montenegro lost its chance to qualify for the semi-finals by defeating Hungary and France.
"It was difficult to play against Hungary and France, and after the analysis I can say that we had open cards on the table, that we could have won. But it is an experience, we will learn from it. Now we are thinking about Sweden and the ticket to Vienna Lazović said.
The next rival is Sweden.
"Sweden will not give up. They may not have achieved the first goal, but I believe they will not give up. It will be a tough fight. Tomorrow let's recover, prepare for them as best as possible, see which points we should attack, prepare a detailed analysis. I'm happy that the girls have enough space to rest," concluded the coach.
Tatjana Brnović scored five goals.
"The most important thing is the victory, we celebrate it as if we had won it. It gives us a chance to look for a way to Vienna in the next match. Poland woke us up with its energy, and we fought back. In the end, a calm head broke the match, in the end we were calm, scored goals easily, and in defense easily dealt with their attacks," said Brnović.
