Milena Raičević is a symbol of perseverance, dedication and pride for Montenegro, said the president of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee Dušan Simonović.
On the occasion of her farewell from professional handball, he sent a letter to Raičević in which he expressed his deep gratitude and admiration for one of the most successful athletes of Montenegro.
"It is difficult to find the right words when the farewell from an active career approaches someone who has left such a strong mark on handball, sports, and our country as you have. Your story is not just a sports one - it is a story of courage, perseverance and love for Montenegro." , says Simonović's letter.
He emphasized that Raičević was part of all the greatest moments of Montenegrin handball - an indispensable figure on the way to Olympic silver in London and the heroine of the unforgettable European gold in Belgrade in 2012.

"Every move you made on the field was an inspiration, every goal, every pass, every fight for the ball showed your incredible commitment. Although the injury prevented you from saying goodbye the way you wanted, it in no way diminishes the greatness of your career. On the contrary , your strength, even in moments when it was not easy, will continue to inspire us," Simonović wrote in the message.
He thanked the trophy-winning handball player for always carrying Montenegro in her heart, for being an example of how to love sports and how to fight for one's country.
"Thank you for every moment of pride that you have brought to all of us. I wish you the best of luck in all future challenges and I am sure that in everything that follows you will be as exceptional as you were on the field," Simonović wrote in the letter.
After losing to Sweden in the main round of the European Championship, Raičević announced that she was ending her playing career.
Raičević took part in winning all the medals of the national teams and major trophies of Budućnost, and she said goodbye to active playing at the age of 35.
