Somewhat unexpectedly, after the last match of the Montenegrin handball players at the European Championship, Milena Raičević put an end to her great career.
After the match with Sweden, she said that she was happy that everything happened in the national team jersey when it was not possible in the blue and white Buducnosti.
A day later, the great player from Podgorica announced that one of the best handball players in the club's history had ended her career and had a message for the legendary number 90.
"Milena, after all the trophies won, we will only remember the good days," Budućnost announced on social networks.
Milena and Buducnost were European champions together twice (2012 and 2015), and won the Cup Winners' Cup (2010).
"The moment has come for another player who wore the jersey of Buducnosti to end her career. Milena Raičević played the last match of her career last night. Thank you, Milena, for all the moments of pride, emotion and fighting spirit you gave us," added Buducnosti.
A little over a year ago, the Management Board of Buducnost Bemax sent Milena to the Rudar branch, because the handball player who is the symbol of the "blue and white" sued the club for unpaid wages from the 2020/21 season when she was pregnant. After everything, there was also a parting, so Raičević moved to Rapid from Bucharest.
They also had a message for Milena from the Handball Association of Montenegro.
"The end of a great story - Milena Raičević's farewell to handball. The match against Sweden at the European Championship marked the end of an incredible sports career," RSCG wrote.
They reminded of the three medals that Milena won in the jersey of Montenegro - European gold and bronze and Olympic silver.
"The heart and soul of a 'lion', a symbol of struggle, perseverance and an indestructible spirit. Thank you, Milena, for making us proud, for inspiring generations and for showing us how to fight for your country. Your name remains forever written in golden letters in the history of Montenegrin sports. Good luck in your new victories," concluded RSCG.
