The last dilemma before the final in Vienna was solved - the handball players of Denmark were better than the Netherlands in a direct duel (30:26) and qualified for the semi-finals of the European Championship.
Ane Mete Hansen and her friends thus joined Norway, Hungary and France in the top four, with whom they will play in the grand final on Friday.
Interestingly, those four selections are the only ones along with Montenegro that have won the European Championship throughout history - Norway was the best nine times, Denmark three, while France, Hungary and our country won the Old Continent once each.
It was Hansen who led the Danes to victory with seven goals, followed by Helena Hagese, Trine Jensen Estegord and Mihala Meler with four each.
Dion Hušer, who scored ten goals without a miss, played a great match for the Netherlands, who are expecting a match for fifth place against Sweden in Vienna.
Earlier today, Germany was convincing against our Dragan Adžić's Slovenia (35:16) and overall took seventh place at the EHF Euro, so Montenegro ended the continental championship in eighth place.
The "lionesses" had a lower ranking at the European championships in 2016 and 2018, when they were 13th and ninth, respectively, while they were eighth in 2020. At the last championship, Montenegro reached the bronze medal.
