In the first part of the season, the Buducnost handball team drew in Podgorica with Đero, the current European champion, which was a huge surprise, a real feat for Bojana Popović's team.
It was unrealistic to expect something similar to happen in Hungary. In the 11th round of the EHF Champions League, the Podgorica team only matched the big favorite at the start, leading 8:4, but in the end they suffered a convincing defeat - 33:21.
The Hungarian giants turned things around by halftime and made a difference - 18:12, which they only increased in the second half.
Buducnost came close to minus four at the start of the second half with a 5:0 run, and had two chances to come within three goals of the deficit, but it turned out to be the final push.
Jelena Vukčević was the most efficient player for the "blues" with five goals, Tanja Ivanović scored four times for Đero, while Ivana Godeč and Jelena Radivojević scored three times each.
Brazilian De Paula was the most efficient scorer for the hosts with seven goals, while Frenchwoman Nze Minko added six.
Buducnost will host Odense in the next round, and will still face Brest away and Rapid Bucharest at home.
Despite one win and one draw, Buducnost still has a chance to be among the top six in the group and reach the round of 16, given the withdrawal of Vipers.
It could decide the match against Rapid in the final round - if there are no surprises by then, Bojana Popović's team will chase a triumph by six goals.
