What a match, what drama and what an "explosion" at the end in the Zagreb Arena... Handball once again orchestrated an incredible outcome after which Croatia came from minus four in the 55th minute to reach the semi-finals of the World Championship.
One of the World Cup hosts defeated Hungary 31:30 in a game that will be talked about for decades.
Mate Lekai hit a seven-meter shot with five and a half minutes left for 30:26. At that moment, his Hungary had a player more and an open highway to the semifinals, but the great Domagoj Duvnjak and his teammates didn't think so.
Ivan Pešić, who replaced the unreal Dominik Kuzmanović in the final minute, worked even greater miracles in goal, and the Croats achieved a great victory with a "crazy" series and a goal in the last second of the game.
The hero was Marin Šipić, who was brilliantly found on the line by Zvonimir Srna, and who was faster than the siren in the "Arena".
The fact that Hungary, Montenegro's next rival in the EHF Euro qualifiers, had the winning attack at 30:30, practically in their pocket for overtime, but against a super motivated Croatia this time, there was no solution, shows how much they were executed in the last five minutes.
Dagur Sigurdsson's team will play in the semifinals against the better team from the other quarterfinal in Zagreb, which is played by France and Egypt out of 21.
Tomorrow, the last two quarter-finals will be played in Berum, a suburb of Oslo, and will feature Denmark vs. Brazil and Portugal vs. Brazil.
