The draw for the European Women's Handball Championship qualifiers will be held on March 20 in Cluj-Napoca, and the Montenegrin national team will be drawn from the first pot, the European Handball Federation (EHF) announced.
It is stated that 24 teams will participate in the qualifications, and that eight participants are already known.
The remaining 16 will be known after the qualifiers.
The draw will determine the composition of six qualifying groups with four teams each.
The two first-place teams from each group, as well as the best four third-place teams, will qualify for EHF Euro 2026.
From the first pot, in addition to Montenegro, France, Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany and Spain will be waiting for the draw.
In the second pot are Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Switzerland, Serbia and Iceland, in the third pot are North Macedonia, Ukraine, Portugal, Italy and Greece, Kosovo, and in the fourth pot are the Faroe Islands, Finland, Israel, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lithuania and Belgium.
The first qualifying round is from October 15th to 19th this year.
The 2026 European Championship will be played from December 3 to 20 in Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Turkey.
All five hosts of the championship have already secured participation in EHF Euro 2026, and the three first-place teams from EHF Euro 2024 are also participants in the next championship.
These are champion Norway, runner-up Denmark and bronze medalist Hungary.
These eight teams will play in the EHF Euro Cup during the qualifiers.
