Hungary was better in the "MTEL Morača Hall", the Montenegrin national team has a chance on Sunday to once again show that it is not far from what top handball requires.
The "Lions" were defeated in Podgorica for the first time in the European Championship qualifiers, thus significantly reducing their chances of securing first place in the group, but their place in the continental competition itself should not be jeopardized because Didier Dinar's team defeated Finland and Slovakia in the first two rounds.
In two days in Tatabanja, there will be a new duel with the Hungarians in which Montenegro wants to show more than was the case on Wednesday in Podgorica and in which it must win if it wants to stay in the game for first place.
"We could have done more in the first game, the defeat was hard for all of us. The matches we play at home always mean a lot to us, we get emotionally drained after each one... But, what's the point, there's another duel with the Hungarians, and we know that we could have done some things better in the first one. That's why now we need to prepare even better and try to surprise them," said right-back Stefan Čavor.
Montenegro was not patient enough in attack in the first match, the renowned opponent knew how to take advantage of that.
"The start was not good. We entered the game quite passively. We will definitely change those things, especially because of the defense that looked quite aggressive and with a lot of "outs", but there were also good things we did in the second half," Čavor pointed out.
One of the tasks of the Montenegrin handball players before the away game in Tatabanja will be to stop Hungarian pivot Miklos Rosta, who scored nine goals in Podgorica.
"We knew that the Hungarians had good pivots. Rošta had a great game in Podgorica, we will try to play as well as possible against him, but again they have shooting guards who are quite good from outside positions. It will certainly be demanding and I think that the defense was not as much of a problem as some minor things in the attack that cost us a good result," concluded Čavor.
