The match against Ludwigsburg in the Crimean jersey was the last in Jovanka Radičević's trophy-winning career. The legendary Montenegrin handball player said goodbye with an emotional message on social media, along with photos from her childhood and throughout her career.
"Today I am at the end of an incredible journey. The last match in the Champions League was more than a match. It was a retrospective of my life, all 26 full years in which I lived for handball, for the team, for victories, for that indescribable feeling when the ball hits the net. Every applause, every hug, every tear at the end - that is what I will carry with me forever!", Jovanka wrote and added:
"I am grateful that I had the opportunity to be part of the greatest handball elite for 21 years in a row, to proudly wear the jerseys of the clubs I played for and fight until my last breath. Even though I take off my jersey and leave the court, handball will always be a part of me!".
"A special thank you to my family for all these years and everything we've been through together."
In a brilliant career in the Montenegrin jersey, Jovanka won Olympic silver in London 2012, and in the same year she was also the European champion with the "lionesses" in Belgrade, while two and a half years ago, she finished her performance at the Old Continent championship in Ljubljana with a bronze medal.
She began her club career in the Buducnost jersey, and later played for Győr, Vardar, ĆSM Bucharest, then returned to Podgorica, and then played for the Turkish Kastamonu and Krim.
The popular Joka has won one Champions League trophy, two European Cup Winners' Cup trophies, and has also become the top scorer in the history of the elite European club competition.
