The head coach of the Montenegrin women's handball team, Suzana Lazović, has announced the list of players for the matches against Portugal in the play-off for the World Championship.
Montenegro will host Portugal in the first play-off match on April 9th, while the return match will be held at the Bemax Arena in Podgorica three days later.
These will be the first official matches of our national team after EHF Euro 2024, where our girls won eighth place in the first competition under the leadership of coach Suzana Lazović.
For the upcoming doubleheader against Portugal, coach Lazović is counting on 16 players, including 11 girls who were part of the squad at the last EHF Euro 2024.
New names compared to the continental competition are goalkeeper Marija Marsenić, defenders Nada Ćorović, Ilda Kepić and Marija Božović, and right winger Anastasija Marsenić. The only debutant is the defender from the Czech Kinžvarta - Božović.
After EHF Euro 2024, Milena Raičević and Marina Rajčić ended their national team careers, and Đurđina Jauković was elected as the new captain during EHF Week in March, while her deputy will be Tatjana Brnović.
The World Championship will be held in Germany and the Netherlands from November 26 to December 14.
