Most of the work was done in the north of Portugal, the second leg in Podgorica should only be a confirmation of another great competition in which the Montenegrin women's handball team will compete.
The "Lionesses" were merciless against the Portuguese team in Fafe, playing their game which ultimately led them to a big plus 12 (31:19) and practically opened the doors to the World Cup wide.
"I expect us to play even better in the second leg," emphasizes Armel Atingre, however.
Our goalkeeper made 10 saves in the first duel, was excellent during the first half while the rival held on more or less.
"I think we did a great job and took an important step towards qualifying for the World Cup. We slowly increased our lead and a 12-goal difference is a really good result," added Atingre.
Ivona Pavićević and Tatjana Brnović were shaking the net at the beginning of the second half, and those were the moments that determined the direction the match would go.
"We started off fighting, and as the match progressed we played better and better, showed that we are a better team and that all of this will certainly mean something to us before the rematch in Podgorica," emphasized Ivona.

"I'm happy that every girl got a chance, justified the trust, and I believe that they will get more opportunities in the future," says the Montenegrin left winger.

"We expected a tough game, the first half was quite demanding, we made a lot of technical mistakes. We were much better in the second half and 12 goals is a realistic result for us. I expect a full stadium in Podgorica, and I would also like to emphasize that I am glad that every girl used her chance in the right way," the "Lioness" pivot emphasized.
The rematch, most likely a new celebration, is scheduled for Saturday at 18 p.m. in the "Bemax Arena".
