There are more than eight months left until the start of the European Handball Championship, but Montenegro most likely already knows that it will go there without its two first goalkeepers.
Nebojša Simić injured his knee over the weekend, it is suspected that he tore a ligament, while his partner from our national team, Nikola Matović, also suffered the most serious sports injury about ten days ago.
Everything about the situation with Simić should be known tomorrow when an MRI scan is scheduled, while it is already known that Matović will be taking a long break...
So much so that he will hardly be ready for the European Championship, and the same would apply to Simić if the worrying forecasts from Melsungen come true.
Although it has happened that athletes have recovered from this type of injury before, it is still much more realistic that coach Didije Dinar will have to look for alternative solutions at the goalkeeper position.
Since taking over Montenegro, the legendary Frenchman has invited Haris Suljević to training sessions, and it is possible that the experienced Mile Mijušković, who at the age of 40 is defending the goal of the Azerbaijani team Kur, will return to the national team.
What Dinar is planning will become much clearer when he announces the roster for the end of the Euro qualifiers and the matches against Finland in Vantaa on May 8th and against Slovakia three days later in Bar.
