Montenegrin handball national team player, Nebojša Simić, confirmed that he has torn the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus of his knee and that he will be out for a long time.
In a post on social media, Simić said that he was facing a long break, and that it was time for a new fight.
"I tore my anterior cruciate ligaments and meniscus in my knee and I'm going to have a very long break. I'm going to work smart and hard to get back on the field as soon as possible and as strong as possible. Pain and a difficult recovery won't stop me from doing that. It's time for a new fight. Thank you everyone for the many messages and comments of support. When I see how much people care, I somehow feel better in this difficult moment," Simić said in a post on Instagram.
Simić posted the message along with a photo of himself with a broken finger.
"This photo represents me in the true light. When I broke my finger, I decided to bandage it and continue playing despite the pain. I was taught not to take the easy way out of life and to fight regardless of obstacles and difficulties. I wanted more than anything to bring Melsungen its first title and to qualify for the European Championship with my country. I haven't talked about these things, but it's important to share this with you because the biggest and most difficult challenge of my career awaits me and it's very important to me that all those who support me have this image of me in their minds," said Nebojša Simić.
Another national team goalkeeper, Nikola Matović, has also torn his anterior cruciate ligament and will be out for a while.
