Montenegrin handball players face two crucial matches in the European Championship qualifiers, and Vuko Borozan is on the reserve list - what's the deal?
The dilemma was solved, or at least attempted to, by the director of the national team, Vasko Ševaljević:
"It needs to be explained and told as it is. Vuko and I are in constant communication and there is no question at all about his desire to play for the national team," said Ševaljević, who continued:
"We have to be understanding when it comes to him, considering that, among other things, he has damage to the cartilage of his knee, it seems to me to be of the highest degree, and that is a very specific injury that an athlete can play with and deal with, but after certain efforts, additional complications arise. When Vuko plays - he plays at full strength, and in addition to this injury, he also has problems with his shoulder and some other things. And to be completely honest, the club is one thing, the national team is another," said Ševaljević.
Montenegro plays Finland on Thursday and Slovakia on Sunday. A point from the first game would probably guarantee our team a place in the European Championship.
"Currently, this is too fast a pace for Vuk, which he cannot keep up with because we will be traveling all day tomorrow, and that also brings certain complications. We will then have two training sessions, then a match, and a return to Montenegro... He is currently unable to endure all of that, but if necessary and if his health allows, Vuko will help in the next match if the coaching staff decides that we need him," concluded Ševaljević.
