Yesterday's draw for the World Championship in 's-Hertogenbosch "pardoned" the Montenegrin handball team, who, even if they don't want to, have to admit that they did well.
The "Lionesses" will play in Group D with Spain, the Faroe Islands and Paraguay at the tournament, which is scheduled from November 26 to December 14 in the Netherlands and Germany, and will chase one of the top three spots to advance to the main round.
The passage should not realistically be called into question...
"We can be satisfied with the outcome of the draw. Although we must not underestimate any opponent, the impression is that perhaps for the first time we have a slightly easier group at the World Championships. Spain has rejuvenated its squad, but it is still a serious team. The Faroe Islands and Paraguay are atypical opponents, but the approach in these matches must be at the maximum level," said Đurđina Jauković.
Montenegro would play the main round in Dortmund with teams from Group C, which includes Germany, Serbia, Iceland and Uruguay.
"Our goal should be to carry the maximum number of points into the main round, and after that we will have a big challenge and a group in which Germany will be the host, among others. I believe that we can play with all our rivals. We often repeat it, but the most important thing is that we have a complete squad and that all the girls are healthy at the start of the World Cup. Then anything is possible," says Jauković.
