The new season in the EHF Champions League, the 30th in the highest quality competition on the Old Continent, will be opened by the OTP Group Budućnost handball team on September 6/7 against the Hungarian Debrecen in Podgorica.
The European Handball Federation (EHF) announced the group stage match schedule after the draw was made in Vienna on June 27th, which decided that the rivals of Bojana Popović's team, in addition to Debrecen, will be Norwegian Storhamar, French Metz, Hungarian Győr, German Borussia Dortmund, Danish Esbjerg and Romanian Gloria Bistrica.
"Blues" will play Storhamar in the second round, on September 13/14, while the European champion - Győr will arrive in Podgorica on September 27/28.
By the start of the World Championship, eight rounds of the EHF Champions League will have been played, and ahead of the break due to the review of the best teams on the planet, OTP Group Budućnost will welcome Esbjerg on November 15/16.
In the group stage, the teams will be divided into two groups of eight teams each.
The top two teams will advance to the quarterfinals, while the teams ranked third through sixth will play in the round of 16.
