A mega derby ten years ago, now a duel with a clear favorite: Đer arrives in Morača, Abramović makes his debut against the champion

In 2012, Buducnost became European champions for the first time in history, a year later, Győr did the same, and until 2015, the Champions League trophy resided only in Montenegro and Hungary.

Since that year when the Podgorica handball giant reached the second European star, Đer has continued to grow, while Buducnost - year after year - has been sinking more and more.

The two giants will meet again in the Champions League tomorrow (Saturday, 18pm) at "Morača", and the difference between these clubs today is best illustrated by the fact that Györ arrives as the current and seven-time European champion, while Buducnost's draw against them last year was celebrated as a miracle, a sensation...

"Djer is the best team in Europe, but we have to think about ourselves," said goalkeeper Armel Atingre.

The duel with the ruler of the Old Continent will also mark a new beginning for Buducnost, after Zoran Abramović succeeded Bojana Popović on the bench in mid-week.

"It wasn't easy after everything that happened, but we need to change our energy, enjoy the game and show what we can do - both as individuals and as a team," Atingre added.

After the last two difficult years and disappointing results, the Montenegrin champion did not open this one in the right way either, and during the first two rounds they recorded two losses - to Debrecen (25:24) and Storhamar (25:14).

Jelena Vukčević says that this was certainly not the outcome the blue and whites wanted.

"But, these are also games that bring us a lot, so we analyzed them in the right way, the coaches pointed out our mistakes. We are aware that we need to change our approach on the field," believes the Buducnost defender.

Győr opened the new season with an easy win over Borussia Dortmund (43:30), and then in the replay of the last Champions League semi-final, they were once again better than Esbjerg (31:30).

"The biggest names in handball play for Đere and there really are no calculations involved. Every time we prepare, we do it so that the defense is at its maximum, so that it is our strongest weapon and that we transfer good energy from the defense to the attack. So if we manage to close those details that we analyzed, we can disrupt them too," Vukčević emphasized.

Last season, only two teams managed to disrupt the machinery from Győr in the Champions League - Buducnost managed to reach a point (23:23) and Odense, which surprisingly won in Hungary (35:28).

"I believe that now we have a chance to show how much we can do, to give our best and to look better. I think we can compete with everyone," concluded Jelena Vukčević.
