When victory didn't come with many minutes of good play against Borussia Dortmund and Gloria, it was practically clear that it wouldn't come from any of the toughest courts in Europe.
Even when the game opens with three missed shots against a team led by the best handball player in the world, Heni Rajstad, and the former best, Nora Merk.
Buducnost was defeated for the seventh time this season, once again convincingly - in the 7th round of the Champions League, Esbjerg was much better, 36:24 (18:11).
Zoran Abramović's team opened the match at the "Blu Voter Doken" hall with three nice moves, but also with old problems when it comes to goalkeeping, so Katarina Filter shone from the start in the home goal, and Esbjerg went on to win 3:0.
The "Blue and White" had a hard time defending against the class of the last four finalists, and in the attack, only Nađa Kadović and Itana Grbić were initially in the mood.
After one goal by Itana, Buducnost came close to 5:3, but very quickly the Danes went up to 8:3, Filter reached the 10th defense by the 20th minute, and the scoreboard at that moment showed a huge 15:6.
Abramović tried to come up with attacks for the powerful rival during the timeout, assisted by Itana Grbić, and then Budućnost, led by young goalkeepers Andrea Škerović and Marija Marsenić, as well as Jelena Radivojević, managed to score three goals (16:9).
In the following minutes, Thomas Axner rested Filter and Merk, but nothing changed - or rather, the home team only increased its lead.
It was quickly 21:11, and then the Podgorica team was saved from an even bigger deficit by Andrea Škerović and Ivana Godeč. However, it was only a question of when the fast Danes would continue to make an even bigger difference.
The advantage grew, with five minutes left in the game Esbjerg was up 15 (34:19), and to prevent Buducnost from risking the most convincing defeat in history (minus 18), Nađa Kadović scored several goals.
