Lazović: I'm happy with the calm; Atingre: Not everything was perfect, but we did a good job

The goal at the opening of the World Cup was achieved - the Montenegrin handball team scored the first two points, justified their role as favorites against the Faroe Islands (32:27) and gave the impression that the events in Trier were in control the entire time.

"I'm happy with the way the girls started the championship, because we know that the first games are the most difficult. We played against them a month ago and we expected it to be difficult. The Faroe Islands have an interesting team," said the coach. Suzana Lazović.

The "Lionesses" were only losing at the beginning (6:4), and during the match they were up six points, only to reject the last attempt of their rivals at the finish.

"There were oscillations in moments when we could have turned the game around earlier, but I'm happy to see the girls when the rival threatened - my players were calm and stress-free and relaxed and achieved what we expected," added Lazović.

On Friday at 18 pm, the rival in the 2nd round of the World Cup is Paraguay.

"They played an interesting match against Spain, they have interesting players. I don't think we're going to have an easy game, but it all depends on us," the coach believes.

The hero of the victory was the goalkeeper Armel Atingre who recorded 17 saves.

"It's the first game and we knew it wouldn't be easy. Not everything was perfect, but we did a good job and we need to keep working," Atingre emphasized.

Paraguay?

"It won't be easy because this is a team that plays atypical handball," Atingre added.

She also played a great match Ivana Godeč, which was flawless in attack - four goals from as many shots.

"The most important thing is the two points, because the first match is always quite difficult, but we broke the ice and are moving forward," says Godeč.

What needs to be improved in the rest of the tournament?

"We will have to be much better in attack and defense, seven on six was where we made the most mistakes and we will have to fix that," concluded the Montenegrin pivot.
