The head coach of the Montenegrin national handball team, Didije Dinar, has announced the final list of players for the upcoming European Championship, which will be held from January 15 to February 1 in Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
The backbone of the team consists of players who carried the burden of the EHF Euro 2026 qualifiers, which Montenegro finished in second place in the group behind Hungary with four wins, a draw and a loss, which is the best result in the qualifying cycles after the restoration of independence.
Goalkeeper Savo Vujović and left back Arsenije Dragašević were dropped from the list.
There are four debutants in the biggest competitions – goalkeeper Haris Suljević, pivots Luka Vujović and Admir Pelidija, and left back Milorad Bakić.
The list for the upcoming championship includes 10 players who represented Montenegro at the last major competition - EHF Euro 2024.
The upcoming championship will be the eighth showcase of the best European teams for our national team, which will travel to Oslo via Istanbul tomorrow, where it will play group stage matches.
The "Lions" will play their first match on Friday against Slovenia (18), two days later their rivals are the Faroe Islands (18), and on January 20 (18) Switzerland.
Two teams from the group advance to the next phase, crossing over with teams from groups E and F and forming a new group from which two teams advance to the semifinals.
Group E includes Sweden, Croatia, the Netherlands and Georgia, and Group F includes Hungary, Iceland, Poland and Italy.
