The handball team of OTP Group Budućnost failed to continue their excellent streak in Group A of the EHF Champions League. "In the "Mtel Morača Hall" in a great match, Bosrusia Dortmund won in the 10th round - 25:22 (12:10).
With this defeat of the "blues", the Germans gained a three-point advantage and the chances of Buducnost reaching the round of 16 are now drastically reduced, because Borussia is a direct rival.
Our handball team's eight-minute scoreless period was crucial, as the visitors took the lead 15:10.
Then Itana Grbić reduced the score to 11:15. In the 36th minute, Nađa Kadović received her third yellow card, two for a shot in the face of goalkeeper Sara Vahter, and then Ivana Godeč was also sent off for the same. It seemed that hope was slipping away...
However, the "blues" played as if in a trance and in the 52nd minute, Ivana Godeč tied the game with a second penalty in the same attack (the first was saved by Vahter), 21:21.
It entered an uncertain finale, and Borussia had a longer bench.
The match was marked by Wachter, who saved 19 of 41 shots (46,34 percent), forcing three dismissals, so Borussia reached six points and Buducnost remained at three points.
Although Amel Atingre also worked wonders in goal and had 36,11 percent saves, even four first shots, and after that the Germans gave up two goals when we, with the player, attacked less without the goalkeeper. By halftime, Atingre had 42,6 percent saves (9/21), what can we say about Sara Wachter!
She saved 10 of 20 shots, all five from Nađa Kadović, who had to be sent off twice because she hit the goalkeeper in the head. Vahter even saved a seven-meter shot from a great performer like Nina Ramusović.
Kadović played great defense in tandem with Ivana Godeč but they were completely stopped in attack during the first half. Nina Bulatović shone in defense and attack with three goals from as many shots.
Our players had a one-goal advantage from the start to the end of the half, but also several unrealizable attacks to make it two points ahead. The Germans managed to do that in the penultimate minute, and despite a loss of focus in their fantastically strong defenses that cost Borussia two consecutive sending-offs, our handball players were unable to score - both times Vahter was phenomenal.
Next Sunday at 16 p.m., Buducnost will play against Metz, followed by a 14-day break.
