The Swedish handball team defeated the Slovenian team 35:31 (13:15) tonight in Malmo, in the first round match of Group 2 in the second phase of the European Championship.
Sweden was led to victory by Lukas Sandel with seven goals, while Erik Johansson scored six.
In the Slovenian selection, Domen Makuc was better than the others with eight goals, while Kristjan Horžen and Domen Novak scored five goals each.
Croatia earlier today defeated Iceland 30:29 (the "cowboys" were Mateo Maraš with seven and Zvonimir Srna with six goals), while Switzerland and Hungary played to a draw - 29:29.
Sweden leads Group 2 with four points, while Iceland, Slovenia and Croatia have two each, and Hungary and Switzerland have one. On Sunday, Sweden plays Iceland in the second round, while Slovenia plays Hungary. The two best-placed teams will secure a place in the semi-finals.
