She wore the Buducnost jersey for a decade, during a period when the Podgorica club was a dream team, but also one that had the misfortune of almost always failing in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Now she has a new task, a new big test - Sandra Kolaković, one of the legends of Buducnost, is the new head coach of Serbia.
The former center back, who played for the blue and white team from 1994 to 2005, will succeed Jose Ignacio Prades on the Serbian bench, with whom the country's Handball Federation has agreed to terminate his contract by mutual consent.
Sandra entered coaching practically from the Buducnost jersey, and in 2006 she led the Serbian national team at the European Championship in Sweden.
"Returning to the position of head coach after 20 years is a great honor, but also a deep personal satisfaction. My first term was marked by extremely difficult circumstances - a large number of injuries, the departure of key players, and the appearance of a very young and inexperienced team in a major competition. That experience was difficult, but it strengthened me professionally and taught me a lot," said Sandra.
And now?
"Today I return with much more experience and a clearer vision of how I want to build the national team."
While playing for Buducnost, she dominated Yugoslavia, reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League five times, and in our handball, from 2007 to 2013, she also worked as a coach of the younger categories in Buducnost, as well as the coach of the cadet and junior national teams of Montenegro.
