The meeting was organized by the Croatian Handball Federation, with the presence of representatives of all national federations from the former Yugoslavia, "which confirmed the joint commitment to improving the quality and competitiveness of handball in the region."
"On behalf of the Handball Federation of Montenegro, the meeting was attended by the President of the Federation, Petar Kapisoda, and the Director, Emir Bešlija, who actively participated in the discussions and gave full support to the initiatives that were formally adopted at the meeting. Montenegro will be one of the equal participants in the future Women's Regional League," the RSCG announced.
In addition to adopting the initiative to form a Women's Regional League, the meeting also reached the following important conclusions of importance for handball in the region:
- unreserved support was provided for the organization of multi-annual regional tournaments of a competitive nature for cadet age groups, in male and female competition, with the aim of systematically developing young talents and creating a stronger base for the future of national selections;
- a clear and unified will was expressed by all associations to reactivate the SEHA League, after resolving open issues regarding the main sponsor, recognizing the importance of this competition for the affirmation of clubs and strengthening regional cooperation.
The initiative to form the Women's Regional League, as well as support for the development of cadet competitions and the revitalization of the SEHA League, represent an extremely important step towards creating a stronger, more competitive and sustainable handball system in the region, with a special focus on the development of women's handball and youth categories.
"The Handball Federation of Montenegro believes that a unified voice and joint action of the regional federations is a prerequisite for raising standards and returning handball from this region to the very top of the European scene, and is looking with great optimism at the implementation of the agreed initiatives in the coming period," said the RSCG.
