After securing a place in the World Championship play-offs with two wins against Finland, the Montenegrin handball team will find out the names of its opponents in the 2028 European Championship qualifiers on Thursday.
The draw will be held in Lisbon starting at 19 p.m., and Montenegro is expected to be drawn from pot three, based on its rating on the European Handball Federation rankings.
The 2028 European Championship is scheduled to take place from January 13 to 30, and four participants in the final showdown have already been announced - the current champion Denmark and the three hosts Spain, Portugal and Switzerland.
The qualifiers will feature 32 national teams divided into eight groups. The two best first-place teams and the four best third-place teams from each of the eight groups will qualify for EHF Euro 2026.
Qualifications begin in November this year, with the dates still to be March and May 2027.
