Five wins and an unexpected defeat to Iceland - enough for another successful qualification and a new European Championship.
The Montenegrin women's handball team put an end to the battles for the EHF Euro with a confident game and a victory over the Faroe Islands (31:26).
"The qualifications are over, but I would also say it was a successful two-year cycle. I hope that in the coming period we will have a generational change, because since I became the coach, there have always been debutants," said Suzana Lazović.
The selector explained what kind of generation shift she specifically meant.
"We are not announcing a complete replacement, but rather to gradually see how many players we have that we can count on in the coming period."
Overall, she says, she is satisfied with the complete cycle.
"There were good things and bad things, but it's all sport and situations we learn from."
The European Championship will be played in December in the Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Turkey, and the "Lionesses" will find out the names of their rivals in the draw on Thursday.
"December is far away, but we are looking forward to every opponent and everything will depend only on us. If we play defense with this kind of energy, courage and fighting spirit, we should have no problems against any opponent. Also, with the game from Iceland, we can lose to any team," concluded Suzana Lazović.
