Dinar reveals cards ahead of match of the year with Slovenia

The "World Cup in Germany" mission, which began in March, continues this month with the two most important matches for Montenegrin handball players this year.

The "Lions" will play against Slovenia in the World Cup play-offs, and coach Didije Dinar revealed the cards and announced the list of players with whom he will try to take Montenegro to its third World Cup since regaining independence.

The legendary Frenchman is counting on 18 players, and the list also includes two reserve players.

Compared to the March qualifiers, in which two victories were achieved against Finland, the new names are Aleksandar Glendža from Budvanska Riviera and Filip Vujović from Sutjeska.

"Thanks to their good performances in the clubs, they earned the attention of the coaching staff and received another call-up to the national team," the Handball Federation of Montenegro announced.

The list does not include the injured Arsenije Dragašević and Vuk Borozan, who ended his club season early, as well as Miloš Božović, who has not fully recovered from the injury that caused him to miss the European Championship in January.

The "Lions" begin preparations on Monday, and on Thursday they will face their first match against Slovenia in Morača (18pm), and three days later the return match in Koper.

"Branko Vujović and his teammates will try to pull off a surprise in the upcoming doubleheader against Slovenia and, after 2013 and 2023, win their third participation in the world championships," RSCG emphasized.

Slovenian coach Urož Zorman has already announced his squad for the clash with Montenegro. The former central defender of "Zmajček" has decided to bring back an experienced trio to the team. This will make the squad stronger with 34-year-old playmaker Miha Zarabec, 33-year-old right-back Nejc Cehte and a year younger defensive specialist Blaž Blagotinšek.

Montenegro and Slovenia were rivals at the recent European Championship, and in an unforgettable match with 81 goals scored, Uroš Zorman's team won (41:40).
