Podgorica will be the center of the finals of the Montenegrin Handball Cup for the next two days. Budućnost and Rudar will fight for a place in the final, while the other semi-final pair is Lovćen and Budvanska rivijera Budva.
Budva Riviera defends the cup won last year after a narrow victory against Mornar from Bar with a score of 21:20.
The final tournament begins today at the Bemaks Arena. The first match, between Rudar and Budućnost, is scheduled for 4:30 PM, while Lovćen and Budvanska rivijera will face off at 7 PM, in a rematch of last year's semi-final.
Budva coach Akim Komnenic He assessed that Lovćen has a slight advantage due to more stable games during the season and continuity in the game.
"We showed quality and character in the last match, which gives us reason to believe in a good result," said Komnenić.
He believes that the key to the match will be defense, with fewer technical errors and goalie safety.
"A team that is calmer and more disciplined will have a better chance of winning," said Komnenić, adding that all the players are ready and that the atmosphere in the team is excellent.
Sports director of Lovcen Blazo Popovic He said that the Cup often brings uncertainty and that there are practically no favorites.
"We know our rival well, we have played four times this season and the performance is even. We have some problems with injuries, but I believe we will be ready. I expect a quality duel and a good game," said Popović.
According to him, the defense will decide and the team that is better in that segment can expect to advance to the finals.
President of the Mines Igor Maskovic He reminded that the club from Pljevlja is participating in the final tournament for the fifth time in a row, which he considers a great success.
"We've played in the final once, while we've been stopped in the semi-finals three times. We'll have a tough job against Buducnost, but we believe we can put up a good fight," said Mašković.
He reminded that Rudar lost all four matches this season against the Podgorica team, but emphasized that his team will not give up.
"The future has quality, but we also have ambitions. We will try to surprise," said Mašković.
Coach of the Future Marko Martinovic He warned that cup competitions often bring unexpected results.
"Rudar is a young and energetic team that will certainly look for its chance. We also want to win our first final and fight for the trophy," said Martinović.
Speaking about the four wins against the Miners this season, he pointed out that it doesn't have to be significant in a game that decides the playoffs.
"The cup is played in one match and the decision will be made based on desire, fighting spirit and current inspiration," said Martinović.
President of the Competition Commission of the Handball Association of Montenegro Milorad Vujosevic announced that the organizer had provided all the conditions for the final tournament to take place at a high level.
"I expect a quality event and believe that we will live up to our reputation as good hosts. I wish the teams a successful performance," said Vujošević.
The Cup final will be played on Wednesday at 18 p.m.
On the same day, in the women's handball competition, the first and second teams of OTP Group Budućnost will fight for the trophy from 2:30 PM.
