Even though they only had a little over 22 hours between the end of the semi-final and the start of the final, there was no sign of fatigue among the Barcelona handball players.
The Catalans routinely outplayed Fuchs Berlin in the F4 Champions League final, 37:34, with a fantastic performance. This is Barça's 13th European Cup, making them the absolute record holders, while the "Foxes" were defeated in the trophy match for the second year in a row.
Third place went to last year's champion, Magdeburg, who had earlier defeated Aalborg, 32:26.
Barcelona controlled everything in the final - from start to finish. Carlos Ortega's team took a three-goal lead (8:5) in the 10th minute. Things were made even more difficult for the German club by the fact that the best player in the world, Matthias Gidsel, had not scored a goal until the 25th minute.
There was also a "plus six" for the "blaugrana" during the second half. However, Fukse managed to come back on the wings of Gidsel, who had meanwhile found his rhythm.
Two minutes before the end, Berlin could have come within a goal of being down, but Gidsel lost the ball, and in the next attack, Barcelona pulled away to a three-goal lead and sealed the triumph.
Luis Frade was the most enthusiastic individual of the winning team with seven goals, while Blaz Janc and Aleis Gomes followed him with one less each. Emil Nilsen was also excellent - 14 saves.
Gidsel scored eight times, while Fukse goalkeeper Dejan Milosavljev had 12 successful interventions, but even that did not help them reach the historic European crown.
