Although in December 2025, the Handball Federation of Montenegro announced that our country would have a guaranteed place in the EHF European Handball League in the upcoming season, nothing will come of it.
The second-largest EHF competition was still too big a financial burden for Lovćen, the Montenegrin champion and winner of our country's Cup. The team from Cetinje will compete in the EHF European Cup this season as well, and their performance will start from the second round.
The remaining Montenegrin men's clubs begin their competition in the third-strongest EHF competition from the first round and today they learned their rivals at the draw held in Vienna.
Budvanska Rivijera will play against Drama. The Greek club has experience playing against Montenegrin teams - last season they eliminated Lovćen in the second round of the EHF European Cup.
The third representative of our men's handball team in this competition will be Sutjeska. The team from Nikšić will face Berhem from Luxembourg.
The first matches will be played on September 12th and 13th, and the second matches are scheduled for September 19th and 20th. Budva will play the first match away, while Sutjeska will be the host.
Women's handball will also have a representative in the EHF European Cup. The vice-champion of Montenegro, Levalea, will play against Red Boys Differdange from Luxembourg in the second round of the competition. The "Canaries" will be away in the first match on October 3rd or 4th, while the return match in Nikšić is scheduled for October 10th or 11th.
