The Board of Directors of the Men's and Women's Regional Handball League (MRHL / WRHL) held its first, constitutive meeting today, July 15, 2026. The meeting was held via video link, and the Board of Directors consists of one representative from each of the three founding federations: the Handball Federation of Serbia, the Handball Federation of Macedonia, and the Handball Federation of Montenegro.
All decisions at the meeting were made by consensus of all three members.
You made decisions:
- The League's Board of Directors was constituted, which simultaneously performs the function of the Board of Directors of the company "Regional Handball League" doo Podgorica. Ivan Milivojević was elected President of the Board of Directors, with the order of rotation of the chairmanship determined by season.
- The Rules of Procedure of the Board of Directors were adopted, which regulate the convening and conduct of sessions, electronic decision-making, quorum and method of decision-making.
Milena Raičević, a celebrated former handball player, was appointed as the Executive Director of the League, with a mandate of two seasons.
The Competition Regulations and Disciplinary Regulations have been adopted, which will apply from the 2026/27 season in both competitions.
The League Commissioners and Disciplinary Committee were appointed, with a mandate of two seasons:
- Executive Director of the League, Milena Raičević (Montenegro)
- Competition Commissioner, Đoko Kolevski (Macedonia)
- Referee Commissioner, Nenad Nikolić (Serbia)
- Commissioner for Security, Veselin Radetić (Montenegro)
- Disciplinary Commission, Bojan Perović (Serbia), Borko Bajalski (Macedonia), Stefan Šaponjić (Montenegro)
A call will be sent to national handball federations to submit lists of referees and delegates for the 2026/27 season.
The text of the Participation Agreement between the League and the participating clubs has been determined, and will be signed in the coming period.
The conclusions of the constituent assemblies of the MRHL and WRHL, held on July 1, 2026, were verified.
"It is an honor and a great responsibility for me to lead a project that returns regional handball to where it belongs — to the very top of European sport. We have a lot of work ahead of us until the first round on August 23, but with this kind of support from all three associations and clubs, I am certain that the League will meet the expectations of players, clubs and fans," said Executive Director Milena Raičević.
The first round of the MRHL is scheduled for August 23, 2026, while the WRHL begins earlier with matches in Group A by agreement of the clubs from Group A. The first round of Group B is scheduled for the first weekend in September.
