The Montenegrin men's cadet handball team was defeated by Norway 25:24, in a direct duel for survival in the A division of the European Championship for players under 18 in Belgrade.
Coach Vuk Kaluđerović's team will continue the championship by playing for 21st to 24th place, and since the three last-placed teams are relegated to Division B, they will need to win their last two matches to survive.
A great opportunity was missed against Norway, as Montenegro led for most of the match.
The last time they had the advantage was in the 55th minute, when the score was 23:22.
By the end of the match, the Montenegrin national team had scored only one goal, which Norway used to turn the score around and achieve an important victory that earned them survival in the A division.
The most efficient player in the Montenegrin ranks was Nikola Potpara with seven goals, while Lav Zeković and Ognjen Pejaković scored four each.
The Montenegrin national team has two more games ahead of them in which they will try to survive among the best European teams.
