Suzana Lazović will lead the best Montenegrin handball players for the next two years, the Handball Federation announced.

It is stated that the goal remains a place at the top of European and world handball, and the dream is to qualify for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Lazović was appointed coach in August 2024, and during her current mandate, she has led the national team to two major competitions – EHF Euro 2024 and the 2025 World Championship.

At both championships, Montenegro took eighth place, confirming its continuity and place among the best national teams in Europe and the world.

"Along with excellent results in two major competitions, a special segment of work in the previous period was the addition of younger players to the senior national team, i.e. creating space for handball players who have previously proven themselves in younger national teams. The goal is for the "lionesses" to continue to gain new energy and quality, while preserving the recognizable Montenegrin identity and fighting spirit," the Handball Federation announced.

It is stated that continued cooperation also brings a clearly defined dream - the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

"We have two years to give everything we have. Two years to work, to believe in each other, to be together not only when it's good but also when it's hard, to fight for each other and not give up when it's not going well. Because our goal is not small. Our goal is to dream of something truly big - the Olympic Games," said Lazović.

She believes that this dream can become a reality if the entire team is pulling in the same direction.

"We have a dream. Now we have the time to chase it. We want to make it happen together," was Suzana Lazović's message after signing the new contract.

The first major challenge in the new cycle will be the European Championship, which will be held from December 3 to 20 in Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Turkey.

The rivals in Oradea, Romania are Hungary, Slovenia and Iceland, and the two top-ranked teams will advance to the main round.
