New judo polemics: 19 clubs believe that the Assembly is illegitimate

Controversy again in Montenegrin judo sport - 19 clubs sent a letter to the public in which they explained why they did not participate in the work of the DŽSCG Assembly, which was held two days ago in Igalo, and where Dragomir Bečanović was re-elected as president.

In the letter, it is stated that they did not come to the Association Assembly because they believe that it is illegitimate.

They reminded that "the Ministry of Sports of Montenegro has repeatedly ordered the DŽSCG to harmonize the Statute with the Law on Sports".

"Since the federation did not comply with the legal order of the highest state body for sports, the inspection banned the work of DžSCG until the fulfillment of that legal obligation. It is still in force today," said the signatories of the statement.

They stated that "some clubs from this list, but not all, received an e-mail from the DŽSCG, where they are invited to the Electoral Assembly, with an agenda in which there is no mention at all of changing and harmonizing the Statute with the Law on Sports".

"As the instructions of the Ministry of Sports are very clear and unambiguous, and the order of things is known, we concluded that it is our legal obligation not to participate in this illegitimate Assembly and expressed our suspicion that the Judo Association and its leadership for the sake of personal interests are trying to involve us in violating the Law and illegal functioning," the announcement states.

Because of this, they decided not to participate in the Assembly, in order "not to give it legitimacy, fully aware that in case of a contrary decision, they would violate the Law and be legally sanctioned".

"We are sure that this, as well as the previous assembly, will be invalid. We are sincerely worried about the future of judo sport in Montenegro because we know that for a long time the leadership of the Judo Federation has been creating enormous problems for the highest state bodies and institutions by refusing to respect the Laws and their recommendations." it is stated in the announcement.
