AK "Sparta" member Muhamed Kurgaš, with a result of 3:34:09 hours and Rada Miladinović from ATK "Podgorički marathon" from Podgorica with a result of 5:10:30 hours, are the winners of today's "19. Ultramarathon – Montenegro 2019“. Kurgaš won the second time.
The ultramarathon, under the slogan "Running Day of Podgorica", was held in Podgorica, on the boulevard of Crnogorski serdar on a 1.000-meter circular track, in the technical organization of ATK "Podgorica Marathon", under the auspices of the Ministry of Sports and Youth of Montenegro, the Secretariat for Culture and Sports of the Main of the city and the Athletic Association of Montenegro.
More than 850 competitors took part in the categories: ciciban, pioneer, junior, senior and veteran in men's and women's competition.
Over 50 ultramarathoners from Serbia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia and Montenegro took part in the main 40 km race.
Second place in the men's competition went to Darko Šekularac from Podgorica with a score of 4:42:34, and third was Ljubiša Martinović from Podgorica with a score of 4:49:50.
The champion of Montenegro for 2019 was Muhamed Kurgaš from AK "Sparta", who also won the "Mileta Božović trophy". Second place went to Jasmin Mulić from AK "Jedinstva" from Bijelo Polje, and third place went to Spas Paloski from ATK "Podgorički Marathon" from Podgorica. In the senior women's category, the athlete of ATK "Podgorica Marathon" Rada Miladinović became the champion of Montenegro.
As part of the event, the Montenegrin road championship was held for seniors and juniors in the 10.000 and senior and junior women in the 5.000. In the senior women's 5.000 m race, the best Montenegrin long-distance runner Slađana Perunović triumphed for the thirteenth time, while Miloš Mikić from AK "Sparta" triumphed in the 10.000 m senior women's race. As part of the Podgorica Running Day, races were held for primary and secondary school students in which about 850 participants took part. From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., the boulevard of Crnogorski Serdara was filled with competitors from almost all primary and secondary schools in the territory of the capital city.
The "Twelfth Memorial of Vojo Vračar" in the shot put was also held at the throwing field in Tološka forest, where about 50 competitors in 6 categories took part.
"Today's competition was attended by President Gojko Banjević, ASCG director Milorad Vuletić, secretary Milan Madžgalj, selector Osman Erović, national coaches Drago Musić and Ivan Popović and a large number of coaches from the athletics clubs of Montenegro. Volunteers 2019 helped organize the ultramarathon. This is the second time they are helping the organization of the marathon, where they are gaining the experience they need to volunteer at the Games of the Small Countries of Europe, from May 27 to June 1," ASCG said in a statement.
