From August 25 to September 1, Tokyo will host the senior judo world championship, in which Montenegrin judokas will also participate.
The participation of 840 competitors from 147 countries of the world has been announced.
Montenegro will be represented by five competitors.
Jovana Peković (up to 78), Jusuf Nurković (up to 66), Srđan Mrvaljević (up to 81), Anto Dubreta (up to 100) and Danilo Pantić (up to 100 kilograms) will perform.
In the first round, on Monday, Mexican Nabor Castillo is waiting for Nurković, Mrvaljević is free at the start, while in the second round, two days later, he will meet with the representative of Egypt, Abdelrahman Mohamed.
In the first round, Pekovic is also free, while in the second round, on Friday, the best of the duel between the representatives of Portugal, Patricia Sampaio and Taipei's Hui ShuWang Hsu, is expected.
Pantić and Dubreta will fight on the same day.
Dubreta meets the representative of Canada, Kyle Reyes, while Pantić expects a match against the representative of the Philippines, Dave Carl Asenet.
Before the championship, the World Judo Federation (IJF) election Congress was held, as well as the 71st Congress of the European Judo Union (EJU).
The president of the IJF, Marius Wieser, hosted representatives of 187 national judo federations at a ceremony marking 55 years since judo became an Olympic sport.
Montenegrin judo was represented at the ceremony by Lazar Daković.
