The Olympic Stadium in Tokyo was officially opened last night.
The event, "Greetings, our stadium" gathered around 59.500 people in the stands, while many Olympians and Paralympians were on the track.
However, the star of the evening, without a doubt, was the Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, who tried out the course.
"It was a great experience to run here, in front of so many people," said the 100m and 200m world record holder.
He removed any hope that he will appear on the same track in July next year.
"I was happy and excited because I won't be competing in the Olympics, so the fact that I ran this course was a great experience in itself," Bolt added.
"Everything hurts even from this little run..." said the legendary sprinter.
Bolt is 33 years old, and his career ended in 2017 at the World Championships, when he injured his hamstring in the final of the 4x100 meter relay. After that he tried his hand as a football player, but without success.
Otherwise, a shortened version of the planned opening ceremony was held at the National Stadium in Tokyo, in which numerous dance and singing groups participated, as well as some famous local athletes.
The construction of the stadium cost 1,44 billion dollars.
The Olympic Games are scheduled from July 24 to August XNUMX. next year.
