The karate team of Montenegro has completed its final preparations and is ready to welcome the European Championship for cadets, juniors and junior seniors, which will be held in Budapest from February 6 to 9, the Karate Association announced.
It is stated that during the four days, 32 competitors worked on the preparations, and they will perform in Budapest.
The selector in the fights, Žarko Raković, said that it worked well, stating that the problem was the injuries with which the competitors came to the preparations.
"I hope that with the help of physiotherapists we will overcome this problem. Ambitions are, as always, high, we want to return from Budapest with a medal. "We did everything we had to do to continue the continuity of good results, but it certainly won't be easy - the competition will never be stronger," Raković said.
He pointed out that Nenad Dulović, who won medals in the junior senior competition in recent years, has no right to participate in the championship.
"I believe in the good performances of Milena Jovanović, younger seniors Bojan Bošković, Balša Miličković, Predrag Smolović and Ilija Radonjić. I expect that cadets Emre Saljiu, Andrija Danilović, Jovana Stojanović and Anđela Ivanović, juniors Andrija Fatić, Nemanja Mikulić and Lazar Potpara can do it. A somewhat weaker performance at the Grand Prix in Samobor showed us our mistakes, what we need to correct, and I hope we succeeded in that," Raković said.
The selector in the categories, Jugoslav Bukilić, said that the competitors were extremely motivated and that they made progress compared to before.
"We worked very well. We tried to work on mental strength because in earlier competitions it was noticed that the competitors lacked concentration and that this was very often the reason for poorly performed matches. I hope that the competitors in Budapest will show a better form than in December at the Balkan championship", said Bukilić.
He announced that after returning from Budapest, Jovana Marić and Vladimir Mijač will join the senior national team in preparation for the senior European championship in Baku.
Montenegrin karate in Budapest will be represented by 32 competitors.
Cadets Vasilije Perović and Ivana Vidojević, juniors Kenan Nikočević and Hana Šendelj and younger seniors Vladimir Mijač and Jovana Marić will compete in the categories.
The men's and women's cadet-junior kata teams consisting of Dušan Petrović, Blažo Micevski and Vasilije Perović, and Maša Đukanović, Džena Canović and Hana Šendelj will perform.
