Montenegrin table tennis player Filip Radović is the winner of the sanctioned tournament of coefficient 20 in Alexandria, Egypt.
Today, in the final match of the S10 category, Radović defeated the former Paralympic champion, the Czech Ivan Karabec, 3:0, in sets (11:6, 11:5 and 11:7).
The silver medalist from Helsingborg, Radovic, eliminated Spaniard Ruiz Reyes 3:1 (8:11, 11:5, 11:2 and 11:6) in the semifinals earlier today. Yesterday, Radović won the semi-finals as the runner-up in the A group.
In the first round, he was unexpectedly defeated by Su Jin Suan from Chinese Taipei 3:2, while in the next two he won against local competitors Abdelvahab Abdelrahman 3:1 and Ahmed Abdel Latif 3:0.
Radović said that yesterday in the first match of the tournament he allowed the opponent to make a surprise, stating that that defeat cost him a large number of points.
"I managed to get back in the right way by winning against big rivals Ruis and Karabec. After everything, I can say that I am extremely satisfied with what I showed, especially that I got back in the right way psychologically after the defeat against Su Jin Sian," he said is Radovic.
He pointed out that despite winning the gold medal, he was "a few points short" in the fight for the norm in Tokyo.
"Next up are the tournaments in Poland and Spain, which I will miss, and in which my friend from the national team, Luka Bakić, will perform in the S10 class. I am waiting to see the outcome of those tournaments, and based on that, I will decide what move to make until the end of the qualification cycle ", said Radovic.
He is currently third in the world list of stoners in his class.
Direct placement, in addition to the already placed champions of the continents, will win the best six table tennis players on the list that ends on March 31.
