The volleyball season in Montenegro is getting its epilogue, almost half a year later than expected - the final matches of the Cup, which were scheduled for May, but were postponed on April 22 due to the coronavirus, will take place today in the "Verde" hall.
In the men's competition, Budva and Jedinstvo will fight for the cup (16 p.m.), while three hours later (19 p.m.) the women's final match between Budva and Jedinstvo will begin.
As announced by the Volleyball Association, both matches will be played without the presence of the audience, considering the current measures of the NKT.
- The final will be atypical in many respects, both because of the six-month break, the absence of the audience, and the fact that compared to last season, we will perform in a significantly changed lineup. The team is quite rejuvenated and is composed mainly of domestic players who will perform exclusively in competitions organized by OSCG this season. The team was formed with the clear aim of affirming young players - said Budva coach Miloš Marković.
From Jedinstvo, on the other hand, they say that they are playing against a very experienced opponent.
- Considering our completely rejuvenated team, and the very high-quality and experienced Budva team, our expectations before the final are not related to the result. We want our boys to get as many positive things as possible out of that game, to fight for every point, for every ball. It will be the first appearance for the senior team for the largest number of players - said Jedinstva coach Darko Prebiračević.
In the women's final, Galeb and Morača meet, and it is interesting that the coaches of both teams say that the opponent is a clear favorite.
- For us, the Cup comes at a very bad moment, since the beginning of the preparations we have been unlucky with injuries, so I still don't know in which lineup we will start the match. We are playing against one of the most experienced teams in the league, which has been playing in this lineup for a long time, but we will try to surprise the favorite - said Galeb's coach, Nikola Masoničić.
- Galeb is a clear favorite, especially with the two reinforcements they brought in in the last 10 days. The only thing we can promise is that our team will give its maximum and try to surprise and win the first trophy in its club history - said Predrag Đonović, coach of Morača.
