Even judokas broke through the blockade during the coronavirus pandemic, so the European Senior Championship started in Prague today.
In the Czech Republic, two Montenegrin fighters, brothers Nebojša and Nikola Gardašević, will fight tomorrow in the category up to 81 kilograms. 40 countries with 345 competitors will participate in the championship of the Old Continent in Prague.
Gardašević will compete in the category up to 81 kilograms, and by the will of the draw, both are free in the first round. In the second round, Nikola will meet the representative of Belgium, Matias Kase, while Nebojša's rival will be the Hungarian Benedek Tot. In the category up to 81 kilograms, 34 competitors were registered.
Brothers Nikola and Nebojša Gardašević have been in Prague since Sunday, November 15. They arrived to do a few training sessions in the capital of the Czech Republic.
The competition is held in Prague under very strict rules to prevent the spread of the corona virus. All participants are required to be tested four times for Covid-19, using the PCR method, twice before arrival and twice during the competition. "Despite the complete suspension of catering establishments in the Czech Republic, closed borders, the organizers managed to organize the championship on the principle of a "balloon" - a completely isolated circuit, with very organized movement and strict procedures," Nebojša said.
After this Championship, all judo competitions were canceled until further notice by the decision of the World Judo Federation. In Prague, the fights take place over three days, our national team members are on the program on the second day.
"We trained in difficult conditions due to the current epidemic, but I can say that we followed the entire plan and program and that we are in very good shape. Under difficult conditions, in addition to the corona, we would also separate going to this competition for the reason that we had to bear the costs for ourselves and the Covid manager. "We are forced to perform without a coach because the Judo Federation has fenced itself off regarding this championship and financial expenditure of any kind," Nebojša said.
"Since the judo national team members did not have any competition for eight months, my brother and I managed on our own thanks to friends and sponsors who generously came to meet us. This competition is also a point for the Olympic Games that will be held next year in Tokyo. We thank you for your help. and the support of numerous friends and sponsors, and special thanks to Lazar Daković, the general secretary of the Judo Federation, who did the operational part of the work on his own initiative", said the Gardašević brothers.
