About 20 days ago, Vasilije Lalošević assumed the position of Director of the Administration for Sports and Youth, which was created by the merger of four ministries in the new Government.
His priorities at the beginning of his mandate are to help candidates for the Olympic Games to get visas for Tokyo, and his plans are to create an even better environment for the development of sports.
Lalošević is a member of the SNP, a former deputy and a long-time official of the party, but also a man with a sports biography behind him.
His response to questions and the mention of his name in the party recruitment story reads:
"I have no intention to justify myself, nor to present details from my sports biography, but, yes - I was involved in sports. I was a junior basketball representative of the SFRY, in the generation of Danko Cvjetičanin and Zoran Čutura, who are best known to the general public. At the age of 19, I suffered an injury that separated me from the field, but not from sports and interest in sports. I was the president of KK Mornar from my Bar, and my Barans know how much I contributed to the club. I don't need recognition or justification, I will try to do my best in this place, to shine a light on the image of this institution and with my colleagues provide maximum conditions for our sport and athletes", said Lalošević to TV Vijesti.
Now Lalošević is in an important sports position, whose main task is to create an environment for the development of sports in Montenegro.
For now, there is a priority, because 2021 is unexpectedly an Olympic year, and Montenegrin athletes are just entering the final fights for Olympic visas.
"We will try to provide the conditions for our Olympic candidates to secure a visa for Tokyo, I believe they will and will represent us worthily, because athletes are the best ambassadors."
Lalošević is convinced that even with the temporary financing situation, even when the budget is adopted, there will be enough money for sports needs in the challenging year, and that financial support for the first quarter is practically provided.
"We are well on our way to achieving that. As far as I am informed, there will not be a drastic drop in the sports budget when it is adopted in March," said Lalošević.
The goals and plans of the Administration for Sports and Youth, apart from financing sports associations, are related to sports infrastructure, with the realization of capital projects - such as the long-announced, but never realized completion of the swimming pool in Kotor, or the football stadium in Cetinje, as well as the athletics stadium in Podgorica - in the jurisdiction of other authorities.
"The government made a decision on the formation of the Institute for Sports Medicine, if we just did it and finished it, I could say that we were successful. We will do it in due course. We will, I believe, also launch some big projects, such as the construction of an athletics track in Podgorica, I have an idea for Bar, which is the only coastal town that does not have a winter swimming pool, and has secured land with utilities. We also have a case from Andrijevica, where Komovo handball players do not have their own hall, but play in Bijelo Polje or Berane, and they are Cup winners. These are the things we plan to start and finish in order to remain recognized for our ideas and implementation, which would make all of us, the whole country, proud".
Lalošević talked with representatives of national sports federations in the past few days, he will continue the talks, and next week he will also meet with the president of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, Dušan Simonović, and the first man of the Paralympic Committee, Igor Tomić.
