Two-time Olympic ski champion Ted Ligeti announced today that he will retire after the world championships held in Cortina d'Ampezzo.
"I gave everything I could to this sport and I'm grateful for everything ski racing has given me in return. I love this sport and I've had a great time for the last 17 years," 36-year-old Ligeti wrote on Instagram.
Ligeti pointed out that by winning the Olympic gold medal, as well as at the world championships and cups, he fulfilled his boyhood dream.
He was the Olympic champion in 2006 in the combined and 2014 in the giant slalom.
His last race will be the giant slalom on February 19.
