The capital city distributed 14 euros to athletes from Podgorica clubs who are candidates for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Karate players Marina Raković, Nenad Dulović and Mario Hodžić, athlete Marija Vuković, Paralympians - athletes Marijana Goranović and Miloš Spaić and table tennis player Luka Bakić were awarded 2.000 euros each. "The Montenegrin Olympic and Paralympic Committee helped us come up with a list of potential Olympians and Paralympians, i.e. athletes who can realistically achieve their dream and go to Tokyo," said Miloš Antic, assistant secretary in the Secretariat for Culture and Sports, at a conference for journalists.
He believes that the capital city will be a real support for them and that the athletes will achieve their goal.
"There will probably be those who will not go to Tokyo, but the Capital City and the Secretariat will be with you and always support similar actions. I hope that with this action we will trigger other cities to react in a similar way," said Antić. .
The best athlete of Podgorica and Montenegro in 2019, Mario Hodžić, said that the capital showed that it takes care of all athletes.
"That is extremely important to us. I thank them for their support," said Hodžić.
He announced that Montenegrin karate players are expected to perform at the Premier League tournaments, where points are collected for the Olympic Games.
"The main qualifying tournament is in Paris. It is our most important competition. Before that, we are expected to perform at the Balkan Championship and the European Championship," said Hodžić.
Athlete Marija Vuković praised the action of the Capital City, stating that it is a motivation for athletes to give even more.
"Thank you to the Capital City and the Secretariat for Culture and Sports. I hope we will go to Tokyo and make Montenegro happy. It's a difficult road, the start was very good. I hope I will continue at the same pace and that I will adhere to the standard of 196 centimeters Vuković said.
He pointed out that the Games are the dream of every athlete and that he hopes to win an Olympic visa.
Paralympian Miloš Spaić said that the action of the Capital City is above all a human gesture.
"Thank you to the Capital City for showing in this way that people with disabilities, especially in sports, can be equal ambassadors of Montenegro," said Spaić.
