Danijel Furtula is one step away from a visa for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, in the discus throw.

Today, at the 25th international athletics meeting Trofej Crne Gore, he threw the discus 65 meters and 59 centimeters, which is a new Montenegrin record.

It is 41 centimeters less than the Olympic norm, but the ASCG says that it is a result that is enough for a place in Tokyo.

"His score (65,59) according to the tables of the World Athletics Federation is worth 1.165 points. Furtula confirmed that he is already a safe participant of the Games in Tokyo, with 100 points obtained as a national champion, which is a requirement for an Olympic visa, with a fantastic result" , it was announced from the Athletic Association.

Furtula was before today's result 25th on the list of candidates for Tokyo, and so far 19 competitors have met the Olympic standard.

Qualifiers end on June 29, and started on June 30, 2019.

Results between April 6 and November 30, 2020 were not taken into account.

32 athletes will compete in the discus throw at the Games.

Furtula (28) participated in the Olympic Games in London 2012 and Rio 2016.
