The Ministry will help Slađana Pejović: With a sense of obligation, we take on the responsibility of paying for medical treatment

The Ministry of Culture, Education, Science and Sports will help the Montenegrin athlete Slađana Pejović, it was announced after today's meeting, which was held at the Ministry, with the State Secretary Miroslav Anđelić.

Pejović was forced to turn to the Ministry with a request to cover the costs of her eight-day therapeutic treatment at the "Dr. Simo Milošević" Institute in order to rehabilitate the consequences of a viral infection due to which she had several months of health problems, and, in the end, had to stop training.

"After last week's press release in which the celebrated Montenegrin athlete Slađana Pejović (Athletic Club "Nikšić") informed the sports public about the health reasons for her absence from the national championship in Bar, and then a personal address to Minister Vesna Bratić, the competent Ministry immediately reacted with a decision to invite to the reception and provide full material and moral support to our distinguished athlete. The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, in cooperation with the Administration for Sports, has with a sense of duty and obligation taken upon itself the responsibility of paying for the complete health treatment which, we hope, will , enable our Slađana Pejović to soon return to everyday life, family and sports activities ahead of the crucial months for the decision on her third appearance at the Olympics in Tokyo, as well as other competitions", the Ministry announced.

The press release states that the reception provided an opportunity to gain a better insight into the value of both its previous achievements and results as well as its ambitious plans for the future.

"In order for part of those plans to be realized, institutional help and support is necessary, which usually lags behind the successes of our best and most dedicated athletes, such as Slađana Pejović. We must point out that we have carefully familiarized ourselves with other problems that followed, but they continue to follow the two-decade-long successful career of a woman who dignifiedly represents Nikšić and Montenegrin sports, providing, at the same time, an exemplary example of sports culture to generations of young people," said the Ministry.
