Golden day for Marija Vuković - the best Montenegrin athlete broke her personal record with a flight of 197 centimeters, won the title of champion of the Balkans and, most importantly, won the Olympic standard for the Olympic Games in Tokyo!
In Smederevo, Vuković equaled her personal and national record of 195 centimeters, which she set five years ago in Berane, on her second attempt.
With that, she secured the gold, but she moved the bar two centimeters higher, in order to reach the best result of her career and also win a visa to Tokyo, although she was very close to her in the lists as well.
She crashed in the first two jumps, and in the third she didn't even swing the ladder, after which there was a great celebration and tears of the world junior champion from Moncton in 2010 and an emotional hug with the Greek Joana Siomu, who has been training her for the past months.
With this, she made history, because she is the first representative of Montenegrin athletics who won the A Olympic standard.
Smederevo was the last opportunity before the conclusion of the Olympic norms, and Vuković used it in the best possible way.
Gold in Smederevo was also won by Danijel Furtula, who had the two best shots in the discus throw, and his longest shot was 62,96.
The medal was also won by Dragan Pešić with 6.710 points in the decathlon, and it eluded Tomas Đurović in the shot put. His best shot, thrown in the 6th series, was 19,89 meters, and the third-placed Marius Musteaca threw twice up to 19,98.
