Montenegrin swimmer Ilija Tadić said that his goal is to win the final at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo and improve his personal record.
He will compete in Tokyo in the 50-meter freestyle, in the S9 category.
Tadic, who carried the Montenegrin flag at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, was very close to the qualifying standard.
At the sanctioned rallies in Zagreb and Linjan, he missed only two and four hundredths in the 50-meter freestyle race.
"These Games came a little unexpectedly, because I received a special invitation to perform, which I did not expect. I am training at the pool in Podgorica, because of the fifty-meter pool, where I will do the final preparations," Tadić told the MINA agency.
He announced that his race is scheduled for August 29.
"I still have a month for final preparations. The final is my desire and goal," said Tadic.
Speaking about the result, he pointed out that he would like to set a personal record in Tokyo.
"As for the results, I would like to swim a personal record, under 26,65 seconds," said Tadić.
The Paralympic team for Tokyo, apart from Tadić, will consist of table tennis players Filip Radović and Luka Bakić and athletes Marijana Goranović and Miloš Spaić.
