Greek athlete Miltiadis Tentoglu won the gold medal in the long jump at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Tentoglu won with a jump in the last, sixth series of eight meters and 41 centimeters. He also had jumps of 8,11 meters, 8,10 meters and 8,15 meters, and he fouled twice.
Leading up to the last series, Cuban Juan Miguel Echeverria achieved the same result, 8,41 meters, but had weaker jumps. He was injured during the competition, missed the fifth series, and failed to jump in the sixth.
The bronze medal was won by his compatriot Mikel Masso with a result of 8,21 meters, the amount he jumped in the first series. After that, he jumped only once more, in the second series, 8,05 meters.
